The obsession continues: the Duchess does it again

I would like to use this week’s article to talk about Kate Middleton, in particular her hair. I know, many of you are tired to hearing about the royals, but I can’t help it, they never cease to amaze me.

It is my understanding that she has a personal hairstylist to work with for big events, I mean she IS the Duchess of Cambridge after all. At the same time though, I’d like to think that she does her hair herself. She is such an icon, from her manners to the way she dresses, from her children to her engagement ring.

She is modest, yet sophisticated. Of everyday reach, but glamorous. Everybody loves her: to the point that her wedding ceremony was streamed live on television five years ago. Even the biggest hermit on the planet heard about her sister Pippa’s derriere stealing the scene.

In this piece, I would like to talk about the three iconic hairstyles she adopts more often. I will not give a step by step tutorial on how to emulate her impeccable hairdos because I have no idea on how to do any of those, unfortunately.

The first is the simple, but not plain, everyday look:

She looks radiant on her engagement day, but can we take a

look at her hair?! Gorgeous. It’s pretty ordinary and somehow her stylist got it right. Why go big or go home when your hair is so luxurious? No reason. They went for straightened with loose curls at the bottom. It reflects the down to earth character she’s famous for, very achievable by many.

The other noteworthy hairstyle is the pinned back look with a twist she wore at the Imperial War Museum reception in London back in 2012:

In seems quite uncomplicated to imitate. All you have to do is get two front parts of hair and pin it back and create a loop to make it less plain. Curl the rest with a wand and it’s all done. Easy to attain. The I-don’t-know-how-to-do-my-hair-today royal style.

Let’s take a minute to be blinded by the shininess of her hair. Look how glossy it is!

Lastly, the next hairdo is the one she showed off on the red carpet to the Olympic Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2012:

This style is one of my personal favorites. A little bit more complicated to recreate. Who am I kidding? I would never be able to make that myself in a million years. To me that is way too complicated to do. It looks like a mixture of braids and twisting of strains of hair put up in a classy chignon. Magnificent.

Side note: here's the article from the event, in case you were curious on the details of her outfit http://www.instyle.com/news/every-angle-duchess-catherines-teal-jenny-packham-gown?iid=sr-link6

Now that I think about it, I have zero competence on the matter of hair and what comes with it, so I’m just writing this article as an excuse to fuel my love for the Duchess. What can I say? I really admire her style. Yes, I am one of those people.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
