How My Life Changed When I Became A Blonde

Who knew bleach could do all of this?

On a day-to-day basis, we don't think about how the color of our hair will affect our lives, but it truly does. As a former-brunette-turned-blonde, I have noticed changes in my daily conversations, as well as monumental (sometimes creepy) occurrences. Here are a few ways my life has changed since becoming a blonde:

1. I'm catcalled twice as often.

Usually, the cat-caller references my "beautiful hair." I have to lie twice as often about being a minor so that creepy guys can stop sexualizing me. Bleach does not warrant catcalls, and neither does anything else about my appearance.

2. I receive random discounts.

Normally I don't complain about saving money, but this is just another disgusting way creepy male cashiers objectify me. (I'm looking at you, creepy Primark cashier.)

3. I get more likes on my selfies.

Sorry, was I not up to your standards when I was a brunette? Did I not meet your expectations of beauty? My (genetic, hereditary) bad.

4. People talk to me like I'm an idiot.

I had a 3.6 GPA this past semester, I'm on my school's Dean's list, I was an Honors/AP student throughout high school, I'm the Editor-in-Chief of the Simmons branch of The Odyssey Online, I'm becoming a teacher, and you're irrelevant.

5. People who ignored me as a brunette suddenly want to talk to me.

But don't worry, they really enjoy my "fun personality" and "wit." *yawn*

Even though there are some downsides to this cosmetic change, I don't see myself going back to my brunette "roots" anytime soon. I love the way my blonde hair looks.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

20099
bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.
