I Have A Womanly Figure, But That Doesn't Give You Permission To Touch It

"A sense of entitlement is a cancerous thought process that is void of gratitude and can be deadly to our relationships." Dr. Steve Maraboli

Me, too.

So, a few weeks ago, I was sexually harassed. As I strut the city streets, I get catcalled all the time; however, no one has ever crossed the line of physical contact AFTER I've declared, "No, thank you."

Well, unfortunately, now I can say that on a good ol' college campus at 12 AM, someone allowed their entitlement to ignore my notification. But, I'm not here to reminisce about the details.

**Note that I am not referring to specific gender identity because I don't care what you identify as, but remember that, like remarkable paintings, us humans are not here to touch, only to admire**

Many individuals censure the way people dress, whether labeling it "slutty," "appalling," or "disrespectful"; however, I disagree.

When I'm rocking those low-cut tops, booty-shorts, and red lips, that's when I feel my best. That's when I respect myself the most. That's when I can really strut any "runway" (more like street or hallway) I'm presented. I don't dress up for others, I dress up for myself.

Women are just as intelligent, determined, and strong-willed as men, nonetheless, women have a unique power: sex.

I will always have confidence in a woman's authentic power: her sexuality.

“I don't mind being burdened with being glamorous and sexual. Beauty and femininity are ageless and can't be contrived, and glamour, although the manufacturers won't like this, cannot be manufactured. Not real glamour; it's based on femininity" (Marilyn Monroe).

That being said, just because I will always understand why people have to gawk and stare at humans—look at each human being, we are all awe-inspiring in our own seductive way—we are all just humans and not sex symbols.

I have a womanly figure, but just because I acknowledge its existence doesn't give you permission to touch.

I'm not blaming anyone. I don't hate anyone. Sorry to those who will be shocked, but I understand where those horny hands are coming from!

Nonetheless, please be wary that consent is needed. No is no, and that's just how it is. Be respectful, learn the definitions of words.

xoxo

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
