12 Reasons You Should Get A Dog While In College Because College Is Ruff

Many may argue that people of college age cannot handle the responsibility of a dog. This is the contrary. Dogs do so much for college students, including making someone happy or teaching them how to actually be more responsible. This is a list of why college students should get a dog.

Dogs can improve your mental health.

Dogs are the ultimate therapy pet. There is a reason why people have them as emotional support animals since they provide just that. It is undeniable that they will make people happy and help with depression and other issues like that. Dogs are the best!

The cuddles are spectacular.

Who wants to cuddle with a warm person that is just crowding your space? Not me! When my dog takes up the whole bed, I am not mad but when another person takes the whole bed it is World War III in the bedroom. Honestly, my dog rules my life and I am completely okay with that because the cuddles that come in return are the best.

Dogs will make you happy.

It is like a scientific fact that dogs will make you happy. Try to be unhappy around a dog - impossible. They are the best companion for just that reason. They can help cure depression, anxiety, and other forms of sadness or panic.

They force you to get up early and take them on a walk.

Okay, the best thing about having a dog, in my opinion, is the fact that I have to get up early to take her on a run. Whether you run, walk, or just take them out, it will force you to be a little more productive with your day when you have to care for another living being.

Coming home to a creature that is so excited to see you is the BEST feeling.

Dogs are ALWAYS so excited to see you when you come home. If a year in dog years is 7, then I wonder how long us being gone feels to them. They are the best welcome party when you come home. They just want to love you and be with you as soon as you get home.

Dogs help their owners get consistent exercise.

Like stated above, having to take dogs on walks or out forces their owners to get exercise. Since they need exercise, so do you because they cannot walk themselves! This leads to a healthier pup and owner.

They will cheer you up when you are down.

They can sense our feelings pretty well, so of course, they can help cheer you up. They use their powers of cuddles to help as well as they will sometimes bring you their favorite toy since it makes them happy (which is PRECIOUS). What is not to love?

When stressed, they know exactly how to calm you down.

Once again, dogs are very adept to our feelings so they can help calm their owner down when they are stressed. For people with high-stress levels, this can be very helpful in the process.

They teach a certain level of responsibility

Having to care for another living, breathing, being can force someone to grow up quick. You have to feed them, put them before yourself and care for them even when you do not want to. It teaches a lot of responsibility to care for a pet, so that is a perfect reason to get one.

Their quirky personalities can light up a room.

Dogs are so funny. I can watch my dog for hours because she will do silly things without even trying. While every dog has a different personality, that is what makes them who they are. They are cute, loving, funny and sometimes many other things.

They can protect you.

Having a dog in the house is great, especially for those living alone who want to feel safe. They will alert you if someone is trying to break in during the middle of the night and they will even physically protect you because they love you. They are the best security system and can help you be safe in various different scenarios.

They will always be your best friend.

Dogs are mans best friend for a reason. Part of that reason is that they are the most loving, compassionate animals on this planet. They truly are the best.

After reading this you can see that having a dog is great for college students for many different reasons. Also, it does not have to be expensive. Local shelters will be cheaper than pure breed dogs and sometimes have deals going on.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
