From A Night Owl

Fully Fledged and Fully Awake

From A Night Owl

I never understood morning people. I've always been one to thrive under the moon and dance under the stars. As soon as 10 pm hits, a burst of energy throws me into the moonlight and I am wide awake. There's just something so special about being awake when the world is asleep. A sort of peaceful oasis from the busy day. Late nights create the most unforgettable memories.

I am most productive at night, I can spend all day procrastinating and as soon as it's late all my work is done. I can somehow manage to clean my whole room, write an essay, watch a movie, go on an adventure, have a deep conversation, and have a dance party all in one night. Midnight is full of possibilities. The wee hours of the night remove all masks and reveal everyone’s deepest thoughts. “3am thoughts” are very real. You can only truly know a person if you have stayed up late talking to them.

In the night lie all the secrets and desires too dark for the day. Your true self is out and adventure finds you.

I would rather go to bed to the sunrise instead of waking up to it. I would rather sleep in and stay up late instead of going to bed early and waking up at the crack of dawn. My energy is in the moon rather than the sun. I will forever believe endless possibilities are hidden in the night. I will forever be a night owl.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
