Disney's newest princess is a great contribution to the pride of being a minority. I, myself, have personally seen the show, "Princess Elena of Avalor" on TV and I couldn't be more happier with the presentation of the first Latina princess! She was just as kind, caring, and beautiful as any other princess however she brings an authentic touch of Spanish culture to everything she does.

I feel as though it is incredibly important for Disney to continue creating and showing minority princes and princesses for the development and acceptance of other cultures to our youth and community. She is a great role model for Hispanic girls. Most of which hold similar traditions to Elena, like the importance of putting her family first. This is especially exemplified in showing how Elena interacts with her grandparents, who happen to be on Elena's royal council. She constantly asks them for advice and genuinely respects them, which is a big thing in the Spanish culture. She also makes time in her busy schedule to be with her little sister. She even sings a song called “sister time” showing that no matter how busy she will get as reigning princess of Avalor, she will always live and care for her sister, proving that Elena really believes that her family always comes first.

Before Elena, the last known minority princess was the absolutely stunning princess Tiana in the amazing movie, "Princess and the Frog" which was a huge hit. Disney is really stepping up to ensure that all girls no matter what their heritage is can be a princess and all of them are beautiful, strong, compassionate, and capable of great things.

Other minority princesses, like Mulan, were also terrific role models for little girls who thought that because they were different they couldn't be like the princesses they saw in their movies. It's very progressive of Disney and refreshing. It makes me and many other Latinas very excited. The hope it gives to little girls and the confidence to be a proud Latina. That a princess can in fact look like them and act like them too. Every single girl in the world should be able to feel like a princess no matter the color of their skin or traditions.

A princess is someone who does what they believe in their heart is the right thing to do, they keep their promises, help all of those in need, stand up for love and what they love, care for their people, and so much more. The truth is that there is a princess in all of us, so it's just amazing that now there will be Disney princesses that represent us. Not only is the Hispanic community thrilled with the presence of this fantastic new princess, but many other people like this new change too. They like that they're doing things like that because then kids of different ethnicities can relate as well as look like them instead of the usual way that Disney princesses were known to look like.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
