"Destiny" Is Done For Many And There's A Reason Why

The moment has come when me and many others finally come to peace with the game "Destiny." I vividly remember when I was in high school and Bungie showed what was going to be their next big project at a Playstation 4 announcement event. What they were offering was intriguing, and something that screamed, "Yeah, we made the Halo series. Get ready for another epic sci-fi quest!" They showed how much charm the game had and how different it was compared to other games to the whole world.

Shortly after, some notable names from the company were leaving. Joe Staten and Martin O'Donnell were two of the biggest names to leave the company after so many years. Especially because when they left was during the production of "Destiny." At the time no one really knew the reason why Joe Staten left, but it was hinted at there was something happening in closed doors. Then there was Martin O'Donnell who was fired without cause. There was even a lawsuit where O'Donnell won because that was the case.

That lawsuit would then go on to almost a year after "Destiny" officially released, and it pointed towards the reason why the game turned out the way it did. We now realize that the reason why the game turned into the mess it became to be was because they practically scrapped most of the game a month before it was supposed to be released in September 2013. That is a whole year before its release on September 2014. This lead to people knowing that the game had close to no actual production time toward it so it could be the game that was being offered.

Sadly, it does not stop there because the lawsuit leads to having documents from Bungie that were then released. It showed what the original plan was before it went back to square one. It shows up front that there were supposed to be five big titles, and then leading to something that was codenamed "Comet 4." People were itching to know if there was content cut from the game, and luckily the people with a keen eye immediately had an answer for that. One person, for example, is YouTuber coreross who took the time to show what was shown in all of 2013 compared to what we actually got.

This somewhat proved that all of the "downloadable content" that was released for "Destiny" was supposed to be a part of the base game. Also leaning towards that the "Rise of Iron" expansion was the only original piece of content for the game. Hell, not only just for the first "Destiny" game, but for the whole "Destiny" series in general. Meaning that destinations like Saturn, Mercury, The Reef, the EDZ and more were originally supposed to be a part of the game. The first two expansions for "Destiny 2" were also supposed to be a part of the first game as well.

Now we have the "Forsaken" expansion coming later this year and it is just repeating the same pattern. There is an industrial hype complex that misleads consumers of what they get for their money and shielding developers for their mistakes and deceptive practices. The expansion will be $40, and if you want more "premium content" you'll need to put another $30 down for the next whatever Bungie offers. Another thing too is that you will not be able to play "Forsaken" unless if you have the first two expansions. Totaling up the prices of the base game, expansions and "premium content" that is $170. That is ridiculous especially since Bungie won't deliver what they promise. I also don't mean big stuff like the new Gambit mode, but other smaller stuff that means just as much.

Bungie's track record doesn't justify what they ask for, and that is not an opinion. If you love to play the game, then awesome and more power to you. The issue is that it is about their sketchy business practices and how they treat you. It is not about the "haters" not liking the game. It is about how they force us into being in an abusive supplier and consumer relationship.

I will be the first to say that the shooter mechanics are some of the best in the industry, and the art it some of the most beautiful as well. With everything else though, it is just ridiculous what happens behind closed doors and baffling how there are people who support it as well as defend it. Especially since there are events happening that may lead to Bungie abandoning ship and selling the franchise to Activision altogether. All of that to start something brand new and self-publish their own games.

That is a great and cool thing that Bungie deserves, but that doesn't look good on their part because of everything else. Granted, I will keep an eye and ear out to see what their new thing will be. For now, I am actually just finally done with "Destiny." I am not trying to sway you to join along with me. There are just things that you have to consider for your own well-being and not let shitty business practices affect you. I care about my fellow gamers and want what's best for them. I love you guys.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
