Dear queen of cultural appropriation,
I understand that a few days ago, when your little snake friend Taylor Swift got called by out for lying about not knowing that Kanye West was going to mention her in his single "Famous." Then you decided to do a very stupid thing which was defend your friend on Taylor on twitter. First you tweeted out this....
Which is a valid point, I will say that but then someone asked you a very important question which was.....
Then you, being the wonderful saint that you are, responded saying this....
So now snake number 2, let me ask you this, how are the killings of innocent black men and women not important? How is police brutality not important? You said earlier that there are more important things to talk about, so is that particular topic not important, or do you just not care? Also, instead of giving this man just a catty and frankly rude response, you could've used the opportunity to actually talk about the issue and express remorse.
Another option would have been just to stay silent, which is what you do best. Let me tell you another thing, you may not be saving lives by just tweeting out #blacklivesmatter but you do have the power to inspire others and to educate others about this. You have so many followers on all of these social media outlets. For example, you have over 90 million followers on Instagram and more than 44 million followers on Twitter. You can use your voice to speak out about this issue. I do it many other people do it including many celebrities. Trust me, it's not hard.
Also, let me tell you another thing, believe or not Selena, but you said that this movement is just a big joke and that showing solidarity to African Americans isn't important. So newsflash Selena, it is. It is important that we have to fight against injustice and demand change and that's exactly what simply tweeting out #blacklivesmatter does.
But hey, you know what, I understand where you are coming from. You have been pampered your entire and you have never been stopped and frisked, question by the police officer and you were never given "the talk" by your parents on what to do if you encounter a police officer. So you probably don't understand this issue as much as an African American would. But the least you can do, is inform yourself.. You have an obligation as a human being to educate yourself about these problems and inform others about them. If you stay silent, you become the problem.
