Dear 2018, Please Be Better To Me

I cannot say that 2017 was the worst year of my life, but it sure was not the best.

Although, there were several memories that I can recall that will be cherished throughout lifetime, I must admit that I can only hope 2018 will be better to me.

In 2018, it's time to reconnect with friends that you once let get away. Looking back, there is nothing that I missed more than my best friend that slipped away after I messed up. It is over a year now, so there is no reason to continue kicking myself over a past mistake. It is time to start new on a clean slate. Rekindle those friendships. They might never be the way that they once were, but it is always worth fighting for.

Anxiety may continuously be a part of anyone's life, but do not let it take over you in 2018. When an event occurs that is unexpected, you have every right to panic, but leave the "this is the worst thing ever" mentality back in 2017. You are bigger than that and you are stronger.

Start overcoming your fears as opposed to hiding from them.

Although there are people you should rekindle with, leave those who are toxic in 2017. There are people in the world that will do anything to see you knocked down, no matter their age. Start holding your ground and showing that you are the bigger person. It is hard to believe at 20-years-old that these things need to be said, but it is still unfortunately true and always will be.

Begin forming your confidence and proving those who doubt you, wrong.

Live every day as if it is the first day of the rest of your life. There is no say when you might lose a loved one or best friend, so make every day a great one. Spend your time reminding those how much you care about them and making time to see those who you are close with. Stop hiding in your room and go out and seize the day.

It is 2018, and I have a good feeling about it for all of us.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
