If you couldn't tell by the flood of study abroad and pool pics on your Instagram feed, summer is finally here! This is the best time of year to try something new. Whether you want to completely reinvent yourself or just switch things up a little, here are 10 ways to exit your comfort zone.

Switch up your circle.

Summer is the perfect time to shake things up. It's easy to slip into the same old habits and hang out with the exact same people, but why not broaden your horizons? Add a few new members to your squad, the more the merrier.

Dress the way you've always dreamed of.

Life is too short to wear a boring black suit every single day. I'm not saying you should show up to the office in a bikini, but get creative on your days off. Summer is the perfect time for bright colors and fun patterns.

Speak up at work.

You might just be an intern, but you were hired for a reason! Pitch something to your boss or speak up at a staff meeting, you'll never know if you don't try. Find something you want to improve in the company or bounce some ideas off a co-worker.

Get in shape (or don't)

Having a summer body just means that it's summer and you have a body. If you feel like getting in shape, challenge yourself! There are plenty of cheap workout class trials that are perfect for college kids home for the summer! Or if you're fitness obsessed, give yourself a break! Summer is meant for relaxing, so treat yourself!

Find a new hot spot.

My friends and I are always wining about how boring our home towns can be. We are blessed to live less than an hour away from some pretty great cities, but we almost never visit. Plan a day trip to explore a new place, you never know what you might find!

Quit your job!

Okay this advice is not for everyone. If you have a stable job that pays well and doesn't make you miserable, lucky you! But if you're working a boring summer job that makes waking up in the morning feel like a chore then maybe it's time for a change! Plenty of places need extra summer help, so keep an eye out.

Volunteer.

There's truly no better feeling than making a difference in someones life. Hit up your local animal shelter or find a nearby soup kitchen. Volunteering is one of the best ways to change your life.

Open your mind.

Try a yoga class, go to a worship group, meditate! If you're feeling stuck then the problem is probably mental, not physical. Find something that reminds you how lucky you are to be you.

Get outta town.

Take. A. Trip. There's no better time than summer to explore the world. Traveling is easier and cheaper than it's ever been. Grab some friends and rent an AirBnB, study abroad, visit your grandma! Traveling doesn't have to be over the top or extravagant.

Learn about YOU!

Summer is a great time to get to know yourself. The days are longer and your list of responsibilities is shorter. Take time to do things you love with people that you love.

Recently, an article on Total Sorority Move called 23 Things My Boyfriend Better Not Get Me For Christmas, was going around on social media. I hope the author of this was kidding or using digital sarcasm, but I am still repulsed and shocked by the lack of appreciation throughout this article. I would like to represent the girlfriends out there who disagree with her standpoint -- the girlfriends who would be more than happy to receive any of these gifts from their boyfriends.
