Ah yes, you're a business or mass communications major. Every major is unique, however, there are some distinct characteristics that set us apart from others. Every major is different and not everyone is the same, but I am willing to bet a majority of these situations and characteristics apply, regardless of your track or university.
- Everyone asks what you 'intend to do with that.'
- Free time is just a word.
- Everyone asks you for help
with school.
- People ask you to read their resumes.
- You're self-motivated.
- You're well-rounded.
- You can talk or 'network' with anyone.
- You’ve been told your degree
is worthless and you really just need internships.
- Your Linked-in profile is flawless.
- You're expected to go to
school, have an unpaid internship, and work another job for spending money.
- Giving presentations is a daily task.
- You know MLA, APA, and Chicago style like nobody's business.
- You understand the news.
- Friends expect you to explain the news to them.
- The stock market scroll still
intimidates you even though you see it everyday.
- You know what business casual means.
- You enjoy shows like "Sharktank," "The Profit," "Bar," "Rescue," etc.
