This new year will bring many great things.

Bring On The New Year
Brigitte Tohm

As you all know the new year is only a few days away. Though some people may say it is a fresh start because it is a whole new year, I say it is still building from previous years. I love the new year.

One of my favorite things to do in the new year is look at all of my firsts. They may be stupid, and I don’t really care about them. I just do them for fun. The new year is not only a way to hang out with some awesome people before the ball drops, but it also means school is almost over. So many things happen after the new year. One thing I don’t like about the new year is new year's resolutions.

So many people make new year’s resolutions for themselves, but I do not. According to statisticbrain.com only about 8% of people who make new year’s resolutions are successful in them. That is a very low number for how many people make new year’s resolutions for themselves. I am not afraid of being apart of the bigger percentage that fail. I just don’t see the point in making goals for the one year.

I like making goals that will have an effect on the rest of my life. Some people may think I am wrong or stupid in saying that, but I could honestly care less. My life is the life I am going to live, and it is not yours to judge. I hope everyone is safe this new year, but I also hope everyone has fun and is excited for what is ahead.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
