I’m slowly starting to realize that in less than a month I will be done with college. Everyone keeps asking me if I’m excited. The truth is that yes, I am excited, although I can’t help but acknowledge the fact that I’m going to miss my best friends terribly when I graduate. No matter where I end up, I know that my closest friends and I will be miles and miles apart because each of us is headed in different directions.

It’s also sad because we wasted so much of our time at college not being such good friends— and that is just downright depressing because we could have been best friends for four entire years.

However, I must say that I’m eternally grateful to have such awesome people in my life— even if our time is fleeting. I’m getting very sappy here, but I’m sure this is something everyone can relate to in some way or another.

Sometimes it seems silly to go out and make incredible friendships when you only have a few months left in a city. That’s why I think a lot of people get cliquey. However, take it from a girl who had to eliminate the toxic people from her life in her senior year of college, making new friends that uplift you instead of break you down are worth it, even if their presence is fleeting.

Proverbs 27:17 says, “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

I am so lucky to have found the friends who will sharpen me, help me grow in my walk with God, and encourage me to chase my dreams. That’s not something everyone gets to experience and I’m thankful that I do— even if we’re only all in the same town for a little while longer.

True friendship will make you flourish.

There’s a huge difference between surface level friends and the ones who know your heart.

It’s important to be able to recognize the difference and prioritize the friendships that will benefit your life.

It’s really unfortunate that every single one of us will most likely be in a different state in a month or two, but I am so lucky to have these girls in my life. It’s funny how the friendships that you least expect can be the greatest treasures. So, to my besties, I will miss you while you’re chasing your dreams in whatever bright city is in your future, but thank goodness for cell phones.
