10 Things Everyone Does, Should Do, or Deals With Over the Holidays

1) Over Thanksgiving and Christmas most television channels will show a repeat of probably the most ridiculous and annoying Christmas movies. You will flip through channels and try to find something better, but somehow always end up settling for the same old bad Christmas movie. And as much as you complain about the movie while watching it at some point during the next two hours of your life you will start to tear up and wish that your dad was Santa Claus and that your husband owned a cookie company somewhere in a town called Snow village. And if you are one of those people who really love bad acting and a cheesy story line, then I apologize for this one.

2) Over the holiday season, you'll go to several lunches and dinners and you will be asked the same few questions over and over: "Where are you going to college?" or "What do you wanna do with your life?" or maybe "When are you gonna have some babies?" and all the while you wish you could tell your nosy family members where they could go, but you're scared of getting in trouble so you just smile and make small talk about your ACT scores and upcoming finals.

3) The holidays get cold, so make sure you "bundle up" as your grandmother would say. Always carry extra coats and blankets in your car just in case.

4) If you live in areas where it snows, you're gonna want to go play in it. Once again, make sure you bundle up, and stay dry for the duration of your venture. There is nothing worse than frost bit toes. Depending on how much it snows determines what you can do with it. If it snows a lot, by all means go make a snow man, or a fort, or a life-size statue of your uncle if you want.

5) HOT CHOCOLATE is a must for the holidays. It's not only yummy, but it helps keep you warm when you refused to bundle up like grandma said.

6) Fuzzy socks are a definite. They are GREAT for keeping your feet warm, and they are also a great gift to give when you are running low on cash and ideas. (take notes boys)

7) Your friends and family might get on your nerves sometimes, but no matter always keep them close. Surround yourself with the best people in your life during the holidays. It will make you and them both happy.

8) Decorate your house. Show your holiday spirit to the world

9) You'll go to church and you'll be in the same Christmas play you've been in time after time. You'll be the same shepherd you always are. And while you are about to speak the only two lines you have, someones baby will cry in the back row. But it's okay because you are representing God.

10) Eat as much as you can. Who cares how much weight you gain. Have fun with your family and friends and just chow down.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
