This year I am extra excited about Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s the fact I get to spend time with my family, that I will be able to relax for a few days, or maybe it’s the fact that I can stuff my face full of real home cooked food for once. Yeah, it’s totally about the non-caf food. I’m kidding! In all honesty, the holidays are my favorite time of the year. I love being surrounded by my family.
1. Quality family time.
Throughout the year, my family is constantly busy and sometimes it gets hard to sit down and have a meal together, especially since now I'm away at college. I’ve gone home a few times, but it’s always been super busy and I’d always been thinking about all the stuff I’d have to do when I would be back at school. I am excited to be home and enjoy quality family time with my siblings.
2. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Macy's Day Parade has been going on for years and I love the tradition of it. It is always fun to watch and see what they will have each year! It’s a tradition in our house to have the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on throughout the whole morning.
3. The Dog Show
I'm sure like many other family's there is usually a debate in the house about what to watch after the parade. I am the only one in our house that actually watches the dog show, and I love it. I am a dog lover, so seeing all the dogs is the best thing ever for me. My favorite category are the toy dogs!
4. Thanksgiving Food.
Maybe it’s because I only have Thanksgiving food once a year, but I love it. From the stuffing to the mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, (only the kind in the can!) I love it all. My mom makes delicious bread rolls, and I have to stop myself from eating all of them. After Thanksgiving break, I will really have to start going to some group exercise classes!
5. The. Pie.
Dessert is like a second meal all by itself! Ok, pie gets a category all to itself. I love pie. Last year my mom made a chocolate pie, and I swear I was in heaven when I ate it.
6. Black Friday
I’m just a girl, ok! I can’t help it that I’m an impulsive buyer, so yeah I’m a fan of Black Friday. Sorry, not sorry. Although I’ve never really gone Black Friday shopping because my hometown and the surrounding towns are pretty small, I’ve always wanted to go. So I usually just do my shopping online and get excited about free shipping! From what I have heard from some friends and my sister it gets pretty crazy!
7. The Food Induced Coma.
After we eat all of the food that we possibly can, my family and I crash. After the day is done, I love just relaxing with my family while watching TV and enjoying each other’s company.
