7 Texts You Send To Your Long-Distance Best Friend

Some of us are lucky enough to live close to our best friends, but some of us aren't as blessed. Some of us live 200+ miles away. Unfortunately, I fall into the latter category. My best friend and I have been inseparable since high school. Now she has a full-time job in the city, and I'm about to graduate college. I got to go visit her last weekend (which was SO GREAT), but I miss her already. One thing that hasn't changed, though, is our texting pattern. Ahead are X texts that you send your long-distance best friend.

1. Lots of links

Whether it's a link to an article that reminds me of her or it's a link to buy something, 70% of the texts that I send her are links.

2. Playlists

Okay, so this kind of falls into the "link" category, but it's a little different. I made a playlist on Spotify full of songs that I wanted my best friend to listen to and then sent it to her. She did the same for me, and it was the sweetest gesture I've ever received.

3. Trying to make plans

Since she isn't in college, this can be really difficult. Our schedules rarely line up. When I hear that she'll be home or vice versa, I make sure that I know the exact dates.

4. Rants

Even though you're far away, ranting to your best friend is the best therapy that you can have. They're always on your side no matter what. Chances are, they don't know the person on the other end of your rant, so they're a completely objective third-party.

5. Advice

There's nothing more comforting than advice from a close friend. Like I said in number five, they're an objective third-party. Your long-distance best friend gives the best advice.

6. "Remember _____?"

Reminiscing about the times that you two were together is my favorite activity. Whether it's "Remember (insert person's name)?" or "Remember (insert specific memory)?", you're sure to get a laugh out of them.

7. Stories

This kind of falls into the "rant" category, but this one is different, too. Sometimes you just have a story that you really need to tell. There's no one better to tell than your best friend.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
