5 Reasons Everyone Should Take A Solo Road Trip

Just recently, I left on a 10 day road trip two states away by myself, driving just over 3,000 miles on both interstates and country roads independently. During the many hours I spent in my little car alone, I learned much about myself and who I am. Because of this, I feel that there are many reasons why everyone should go out on the road all alone. Here are just a few of them.

Experience true independence.

When you're on I-65 or any major interstate all alone, you and you alone are solely responsible for your safety and getting where you need to go. Also, if something happens to you or your car (for example, I locked my keys in my car and had to call a locksmith to get them out), you're responsible for fixing the issue and getting back on the road.

Go at your own pace.

The best part of travelling by yourself is going at your own speed. Whether that means going 90 MPH on the interstate or stopping wherever and whenever you want, it's so much more relaxing to be in complete control of where you go and when you go.

Eat wherever you want!

While this does mean you should be smart about the restaurant you choose, it also means that if you want to go to a Chick-Fil-A 10 minutes out of the way, you can! I just drove along the road until I saw a sign for something that sounded good, and I know it's not where my family would have chosen to go if I was travelling with them.

You can listen to whatever music you want.

When I drive with my family (who has a very different music taste than me), I have to adapt what I play to fit their taste. When I took off on my own, I blasted old One Direction songs for four hours at a time and no one could tell me otherwise.

You can come and go as you please!

When I took my first solo road trip, I stayed an extra five days just because I could. It was very freeing to be completely in charge of where you go and when, and it makes your time there all the more enjoyable.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
