While many women share unconventional beauty, lifestyle, and style habits with the world daily via social media, blogs, and YouTube, there are some things so gross(ish) that we tend to keep them to ourselves. Why do we do this? I think the main reason is that most of us don't realize those weird beauty customs we do are more common than we actually think. And honestly, they're not really that gross anymore if everyone is doing it, right?
Here are four things we girls do but don't talk about (yes, you're not alone).
1. Only wash our bras like once a month.
Let's face it: We all have that favorite bra or two that we wear every day and barely ever wash. Maybe we'll throw it in with a load of laundry every now and then, but usually, that thing is going right back on after the shower or in the morning. Sometimes, we may even throw it in the laundry basket only to fish it out later when we can't cope with the uncomfortable back-up bra.
2. Shave our faces.
This isn't something I've personally been doing for a long time. However, after falling deep down the rabbit hole of beauty tutorials on YouTube recently, I stumbled upon a lot of videos in which popular beauty gurus claimed that shaving the peach fuzz off of the face makes foundation glide on so much smoother and overall makeup looks appear a million times more flawless. After trying it, I'm never going back. If you haven't tried this one yet, I recommend it. And no, your peach fuzz won't grow back thicker. That's only a myth.
3. Shove our fallen hairs onto the shower wall.
You know when you're washing your hair and get normal fallout but don't know what to do with the hairs? Many of us end up shoving them onto the shower wall. We tell ourselves we'll grab them and throw them away after the shower is over, but it never happens. The hairs remain in majestic clumps on the wall until they dry and fall, eventually clogging the shower drain. How wonderful.
4. Shave our feet.
Aaaaaand back to gross shaving habits. Believe it or not, many women get foot and toe hair, and there's no way we're letting those be seen. So, we are forced to shave them so that the embarrassment of the fact isn't opened like a can of worms - right after shaving our faces, of course.
At the end of the day, all women are beautiful in their own ways. Whether we're shaving or waxing every inch of our bodies, trimming our nose hairs, wearing the same bra or jeans for five weeks in a row, or who knows what else we weirdos do, we are not alone in our beauty and life endeavors.
Embrace every flaw and continue to live life whatever way makes you feel beautiful.
