Here are some sports facts from 1915:

The Boston Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series in 1915 4-1. Babe Ruth was on this Red Sox team, but didn’t even pitch and only made one appearance as a pinch hitter.

NCAA Football Champion: Cornell University with a 9-0-0 record.

The Rochester Jeffersons Professional American Football Team won the New York League.

The Youngstown Patricians Professional American Football Team won the Ohio League.

The Ohio league and the New York league were predecessors of the the National Football League later on.

The 23rd Stanley Cup is played on March 26th by the Vancouver Millionaires and the Ottawa Senators. The Millionaires sweep the Senators.

The first Mount of Marathon Race in Seward Alaska was run.

The 19th Boston Marathon was run and won by Edouard Fabre from Canada.

World War I disrupted many sports, and many major events were not played in 1915 because of it:

Wimbledon was not held.

Soccer was disrupted over seas until 1919 after the 1914-1915 season.

The British Open was not held.
