I get that it's hard to come up with ideas for costumes or decide on which ones to wear! Well, here's my list of costumes that you can create using mostly items from your closet that you probably already own!
1. Cowgirl
Throw on a flannel and a pair of jeans, and maybe a cowboy hat or boots if you've got 'em!
2. Tourist
Toss on a Hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts and a lei if you've got one and fanny pack, which you can fill with snacks or drinks!
3. Soldier
Put those camo pants to good use! If you don't have an olive green shirt, toss on a black or grey tank top or sports bra and sneakers, put your hair in a ponytail or braids, and you're good!
4. Sandy from "Grease"
Put on your best black jeans or leggings, a black top, and a leather jacket, curl your hair if it's not already curly, and top it off with red lipstick! All you need to fully complete the look is your Danny Zuko!
5. Angel
All you gotta do is deck yourself out in all white and add a halo!
6. Devil
Use the same idea as an angel, but go all red or red and black! Get yourself some $2 devil horns headband from a local convenience store! Or, if you're feeling especially dangerous, bust out that sexy red dress in the back of your closet and rock it, girl!
7. Deer
Invest in a cute antlers headband from Etsy or a Halloween costume store, put on a white shirt, a brown or beige skirt, and draw on a cute little nose with some eyeliner!
8. Race car driver
Put on plenty of checkered patterned items, sneaks, and a bandana to use as a flag!
9. Black cat
Call it basic, but this costume never fails! Dress it up or down, however you like!
10. Leopard/Cheetah
If you've got any exotic animal prints, take it and run with it! Add in a pair of ears and/or a tail if you want!
11. Alien
It's time to get wacky! Put on some neon clothing, or anything metallic or reflective you've got! Put your hair in some space buns, and take this as an excuse to try out some crazy makeup!
12. VSCO girl
Scrunchies? Check. Hydroflask? Check. Oversized tee shirt? Check. Puka or cowrie shell necklace? Check. You can choose between Birkenstocks, vans, or Crocs for your footwear, but remember your catchphrases! *and i oop!* sksksksksksksk
13. Hippie
There are so many options here! Bell bottom jeans and anything with fringe, or you could deck yourself out in florals if 'flower power' is more your vibe. Or, if you can rock tie-dye, do it! Stay trippy, little hippie!
14. Robber
Deck yourself out in black and white stripes, and don't be afraid to accessorize with a black mask or handcuffs!
15. Nerd
One of the easiest and most classic costumes. You need two out of these three things, and you're set. Glasses, a button-down shirt, and a skirt, preferably plaid.
16. Spice Girls
This one is a super fun group costume for your girl gang! Scary Spice wears as much animal print as possible, and channels her inner Mel B! Posh Spice can wear a black mini dress, and Baby Spice can dress up in pastels and lots of pink! Sporty Spice can rock some sweats, sneakers and a sports bra, and Ginger Spice should wear red and blue, and a UK flag if she has it! And of course, don't forget to throw up your peace signs for the pics!
17. Risky business
Channel your inner Tom Cruise in the most iconic scene from "Risky Business" in an over-sized button-down, white knee-high socks, and something to use as a microphone (preferably a little trophy)
18. Lifeguard
All you need is a red swimsuit or bodysuit, sunglasses, and a little red fanny pack! Bonus points if you can find a boy to be the Smalls to your Wendy!
19. Greek goddess
Wear a bed sheet as a toga, sprinkle some gold glitter on your face, and don your strappy sandals!
20. Barbie
You'll need to own a lot of pink for this one! You can dress as the classic doll in a basic dress, or you can go as her in any of her many career or distinctive outfits!
