15 Facts About Me, Featuring Cat GIFs

I've been doing this for a year, so "meow's" the time to share some untold facts

It's been a little over a year since I've joined Odyssey, and I've enjoyed myself so far. I posted a bunch of listicles relating to myself and my life that you guys (My readers, if you exist), would hopefully relate to, but there are things that I have not yet shared and my expand upon later, so, here's 25 facts, featuring cat GIFs because I relate to them on a spiritual level.

1. I'm not really a Southerner

Yes, Maryland is geographically south of the Mason-Dixon line, but central Maryland is culturally "North." To get "South," you need to either go west to the mountains or to the Eastern Shore.

2. I'm a night owl

I can't sleep before midnight, and if you want me 100% alive, don't get me up past noon.

3. Politically, I consider myself a left-leaning moderate

And I also hate politics, so there won't be that many political articles from me.

4. As much as I detest sports, I've played them

I've done soccer and swimming as a kid before my health (and eyesight) deteriorated. Thankfully I can say I watch the anime "Free!" for the swimming, AND actually understand what's going on.

5. My favorite food is mashed potatoes

And I'm particular about it. Plain or garlic (no cheese), mashed, (not smashed, mashed means without skin *cough* NEW JERSEY *cough*) and always with gravy but without chunks.

6. I love "Super Smash Bros."

I haven't played it in a while (And am therefore rusty), but Super Smash Bros remains one of my favorite games. Peach is my main, then Marth, then Zelda, then Meta Knight.

7. I'm a very fussy eater

Yes, I am a super taster, but there are also foods that I just plain don't like. How can people stand peanut butter??? Or avocados??? Gross!

8. One of my favorite movie series is "Back to the Future"

It may have been the gateway to my love of time travel fiction, and it's just plain classic.

9. My favorite kind of chip is the Herr's Kettle Cooked Boardwalk Salt and Vinegar

You can fight me on this all you want, but these are the best chips on earth.

10. I'm not a hugger

I'm not a physically affectionate person, and even less so if I don't trust you. Don't take it personally if I refuse to hug you or only half accept an unwanted hug.

11. My go-to Starbucks order is a tall Mocha or Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino

And occasionally a butter croissant. They're among the few things at Starbucks I find palatable because the regular coffee is way too strong.

12. My astrological sign is Virgo

I fit a few of the stereotypes about being the rational and detail-oriented, but I'm also the messiest Virgo alive.

13. I'm conflicted between wanting a relationship and retaining my freedom

As much as I'd like to know what it's like, and not be lonely, I'm pretty independent and likely wouldn't do well with sacrificing any of it.

14. I hate getting my picture taken

I'm not sure what it is, maybe an equal hatred of attention. I hardly ever Instagram, and when I do, it's hardly ever pictures of me.

15. I don't want children

Again, this goes along with my independent personality, so dedicating the rest of my life to a tiny human is not in the cards for me. Plus I want to have time and money to do other stuff with my life, like travel.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
