I've met some pretty stellar people throughout the past year of my life and through meeting these people, I've discovered things they've said to me that in the moment may not have seemed like much but eventually had an impact on my thinking long-term. Realistically, I think it is in everyday life and typical interactions that we discover some of the most inspirational and touching words that may ever grace our ears.

1. "Today may not be your day, but tomorrow and the future is all yours."

I used to say that "today wasn't my day" when someone asked me how I was doing. I stopped saying this when I was given this response, because I realized that it was true. A bad day doesn't mean a bad life, and I just had to keep remembering that.

2. "You have options, Bri. You always have options."

I can't accurately explain how many times I hear this within a single week; that's a hot ass mess times a million. But it is true. I can't deny the fact that this has changed all of my thinking to where I now realize that I am not stuck in a hole without a choice. I am in charge of my own destiny.

3. "You do have a voice and I'm here to listen."

This quote reminded me that I have an opportunity to open my mouth and actually be heard. This is something different, but something that many need to hear. Having someone to listen to you is important, but overlooked.

4. "God does care, but he allows us to fail so that we can learn from our mistakes."

Many people go through life thinking that the difficult situations that happen to them are sources of God's hate for them. I've thought this all the time, and I'd be lying if I said I still don't. But it's important to remember that there is an ultimate reason for everything.

5. "Open yourself up to see yourself how others see you."

I, like many other young girls, have no confidence in myself or my image. After sharing this, someone close to me said this and it completely rocked my world. Seeing yourself how others understand you is something that could ultimately alter the world you live in.

6. "If the greatness you're going to achieve wasn't as great as it's going to be, the devil wouldn't be working as hard as he is on you."

Depression is not something the faithful easily understand. I had trouble understanding it too, but the action of understanding this one quote is life changing.

7. "God is telling me to tell you not to be afraid."

Fear is a silent killer. I am a firm believer that God works in very mysterious ways, many times through others. This message brought me hope during a dark time, and for another experiencing darkness at this time, it may be exactly what they need to hear.

8. "You woke up today because God made a way. God will always make a way."

Why do we wake up? Why do we experience things that we see no purpose to? The answer is simple: it is because God made a way and will always do so.

9. "You belong here."

Sometimes we feel like an outsider looking in on life. Hearing that you do belong is something so many people take for granted. What some don't realize is that it might be the one thing that makes one person hold on one more day.

10. "Who made jam out of this mess of berries? I did."

My roommate never fails to bring these quotes to my attention. She tells me this constantly, showing me that something can be made of something else. The message being that a mess can turn into a good thing if we just put in the time to make it happen.

11. "I am so proud of you today, tomorrow, and always."

I overreact to every situation, to the point where people begin expecting me to blow something up that really isn't that deep. I did that (again) but in the end of it, I recognized my mistake, and received this response. I hold the note it was written on close to my heart always, because it's something people don't hear as often as they should.

12. "Silly bitch."

Every time I do something dumb or I do something that honestly I never should've done in the first place, my roommate always says this tome. Honestly it's just funny, having something worth laughing at in life is just as important as anything else.

12. "Brianna needs to love Brianna. Bri needs to believe in Bri."

I'll just leave this here.

Even when it doesn't seem like it, any day could be your day. In reality, every day could be your day if you wanted it to be. I say "this is a mess" to every situation throughout the day, but today I was told that any day could be your chance to turn your mess into a message. Turn your mess into a message.

It's easy to be focused on what has gone wrong, and believe me I still do that nonstop. That doesn't mean it's not important to stop and recognize what you're grateful for, and how you got to where you are today. You may not be far along in your journey, but you are on your way.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
