Ahh, Thanksgiving. The weather gets cooler, the leaves change color, and most importantly friends and family come together. It is the one time of year when we are forced to take a break from our busy lives and truly appreciate all that we are lucky enough to have. Here are 12 things to remember to be thankful for this holiday season:

1. Your Health

This is something that people tend to forget about. We take being healthy for granted and some people aren’t so lucky. Make sure you always remember that when everything else appears to be going wrong, at least you’re healthy!!!

2. Family & Friends

This seems obvious, but not everyone has a great support system. Be grateful that you have people around you that love and care about you. Without them, life would be pretty lonely. Show them some extra love!

3. Your Pets

Every time you come home, they are always the most excited to see you. When you’re upset, they can sense it and try to make you feel better.

4. The Kindness Of Strangers

Every so often, we rely on one another to lend a helping hand. The selfless acts that people do for others can really make someone’s day, whether that gesture is big or small.

5. Modern Medicine

Without it, we would have a lot fewer people in this world. Thanks to modern medicine, we are able to save the lives of so many people and prolong the lives that would’ve been cut short.

6. Your Education

Not everyone is lucky enough to receive an education. Being educated in today’s world opens up so many doors that lead to success. Without it, we wouldn’t have doctors, lawyers, or teachers.

7. The Ability To Travel

It is important to be able to see the world and learn how other cultures differ from our own. We are lucky enough to be able to so easily go anywhere we desire.

8. The Armed Forces

Just because it may be out of sight, doesn’t mean it should be out of mind. We are able to feel safe in this country thanks to those who fight for us. As we all know, other countries aren’t so lucky.

9. Books

10. Wine

Who doesn’t love a good glass of wine?! I think my life would be incomplete without it. Plus it goes great with Thanksgiving dinner!

11. The Weekends

Although they can sometimes still be hectic, the weekend is our 2 days that we have to ourselves. It is our time and we can do with it whatever we want.

12. Technology

We are so lucky to have the world at our fingertips-- literally. We are able to shop, get directions, and connect with people internationally all thanks to technology!

It’s so easy to get caught up in life and forget about the things we take for granted. Today, be mindful and acknowledge ALL that you have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
