11 Things You Can Do To Fully Recover From Mid-Terms

In This Article:

Mid-terms are such an exhausting task. They are obnoxiously half-way through the semester. They appear nice. They are supposed to let you know how you are doing in your classes before your huge final takes place. But they can be so exhausting that by the time finals are here you are still by mid-terms. So here are 11 things you can do to fully recover from mid-terms.

1. Sleep

Giphy

Sleep like it's nobody's business. Turn off your phone. Turn off your computer. Turn off your lights and go to bed. Don't wake up until you feel like you have slept for 20 years. Afterwards, you will feel so refreshed. Sleep is the cure to everything.

2. Movie night

Giphy

Movies are the best. They take your mind off of the what-if questions that surface after mid-terms. Don't worry about how you could have answered the question better. You will go over that next week in the review. For now go off on an adventure or fall in love in a movie that is to your liking.

3. Dinner with friends

Giphy

Take some time to reconnect with your friends. They miss you since you have been hiding in a cave and studying for the past month. You deserve to see them and just have fun.

4. Long walks

Giphy

Taking long walks is a great reminder after mid-terms that there is a world out there that is beyond school and studying. Be sure to appreciate the world and its wonders. Carefully observe the things around you and be filled with gratitude. This is a quick remedy to finding peace.

5. Hot showers

Giphy

Showers are the best place to relax. No one can bother you. You can just let all the tension melt away. Stress from memorizing endless flashcards, writing long papers, and figuring out impossible equations all disappear under the shower head.

6. Spa day

Giphy

Treat yourself after mid-terms. Nothing is a better treat than a spa day. You can go to an actual spa or just do face masks in the comfort of your home. But don't forget to just focus on you.

7. Family time

Giphy

Time with the family is priceless. After mid-terms you will be so grateful for your family. They are the one group of people who still love you no matter how you do on your exams. Go visit them or give them a call. Just remember blood is thicker than water.

8. Read for fun

Giphy

Remember when reading use to be for pleasure and not because it was assigned to you. Go and pick up an old favorite or start a new book that has caught your eye. Bring back the joy in reading something that doesn't have to be statistically significant. It's just what you need.

9. Revisit loved hobbies

Giphy

Now that mid-terms are over you can revisit your beloved hobbies. From cross-stitching to banjo playing, do the things that have always brought a smile to your heart. Just because you are dedicated to your studies, does not mean that you have to neglect the things that bring you joy.

10. Take a trip

Giphy

Traveling to a new place will do just the trick to help you forget you just took mid-terms. Whether you are on the beach or on top of mountains, the linger thoughts of mid-terms will be left behind and long forgotten.

11. Cultural enrichment

Giphy

Head to a museum. Visit a historical landmark. Go to the theater. Watch a ballet. Peruse through downtown. Or just jam out in your bedroom. But be sure to be enriched by the cultural wonders this world has to offer. Mid-terms are only a small part of life.

Now that you have these things to do, go do them. In no time you will be refreshed, invigorated, and ready for finals.

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
