10 Basic Questions College Students Are Tired Of Hearing, But Will Always Be Asked
Tatayana Allen

I have come to realize as a college student, anytime I go somewhere I get asked the same questions over and over again. And I am sure that other students can relate.

When I go home to visit my family, when I go on vacation, and when I am getting groceries, the questions I get asked are all the same. It is like everyone has formed in their own subconscious a similar list of questions to ask me when they realize that I am in college.

Now my point is not to criticize people for asking me the same questions because I am guilty of asking these questions all the time too. They are easy conversation starters and the quickest way to start to get to know a person. I ask them to other students in my classes and when I go to events. Again they are not horrible or unreasonable questions, I just realized that I either ask one of these questions or get asked one of these questions at least a few times a week.

Take a look at the list and see if you feel the same!

1. What school do you go to?

An easy one to answer, but can be easily avoided if you wear a t-shirt from your prospective school.

2. How many credits are you taking?

This is the first question to ask when you see your friend stressing out at the beginning of the semester.

3. What year are you?

This question is usually pretty easy to answer.

4. When will you graduate?

Now this question may seem to be the same as the previous question, but they are definitely different. For some people, college is not four years of school and then you are ready to graduate. Some people come to college with a lot of credits and graduate early. While others may have something happen along the way and need more time.

5. What is your major?

This may seem like a simple question, but it can actually be very stressful. Some people do not know what they want to do yet and need time to figure out.

6. What dorm do you live in?

Or for the students who do not live on campus anymore, what dorm did you use to live in?

7. What are you doing over the summer?

Some people have really great things planned for the summer, while other people plan to sit on the couch.

8. Where are you from?

The people you meet at college come from all around the country and some people even come from different countries.

9. How is the semester going?

The answers to this question can definitely vary.

10. What are your plans after you graduate?

This is another possibly stressful question, but it definitely important to plan for the future.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
