Summer break is here (or will be soon), so it's time to relax after making it through another school year! It's a welcome break from exams and homework, and a time to travel or lounge by the pool. While most of the aspects of summer break are a blast, there are some parts that aren't as fun.

1. Finding a summer job.

Summer is a time to accumulate as much cash as possible so you can afford to eat when you go back to school in the fall. But beware, finding a summer job seems easy until you actually try to do it. How are you supposed to get experience when no one will hire you because you don't have enough experience yet?

2. Sitting around the house.

Sitting around and having nothing to do after a full month of pure chaos sounds blissful, and it definitely is. For like, a week. But transitioning from being busy constantly to very abruptly having little to no responsibility can be difficult. I spend my days laying on the couch with a constant, vague feeling that there's something I should be working on.

3. No one is available to hang out yet.

My school was one of the first to let out for summer break, and a vast majority of my friends are still in school so I have to spend the next few weeks waiting for them to finish up. It's quite a departure from living in a dorm where people were around constantly whether you liked it or not.

4. The sunburns

It seems like no matter what sunscreen I use, or how often I reapply, I always get just a little sunburnt. My friends always make fun of me when they go to tan by the pool and I insist on camping out under an umbrella the whole time. All my pale peeps out there will relate.

5. Missing your college friends.

It's hard going from seeing your friends every single day to not seeing them for multiple months. Especially since some may live across the country or the world. You can always video call but it's just not the same.

Even though summer has some not-so-awesome parts, make sure to have fun and enjoy your time with family and friends while you have the oppurtunity. Fall will be here before you know it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
