Wendy Williams Is Not An LGBTQ Ally, And She Never Has Been

Somehow, I'm really not that surprised.

Wendy Williams Is Not An LGBTQ Ally, And She Never Has Been

Recently, television personality Wendy Williams went out of her way to make a snarky comment that got people buzzing. Williams said that gay men should "stop wearing our skirts and high heels." Not only is this comment deeply offensive and out of touch, but just proves that she is not a true ally of the LGBTQ community.

And she never has been.

I think this will hurt her significantly in ratings. I hypothesize that a lot of her audience are part of the community or at least are allies. The good thing for those people is they can see right through her grand scheme. All she wants is the money, the fame, the tea, or to stir up another controversy. That's why she's on TV, it's what she's best at.

In my opinion, she may be funny in .GIFs but she was over years ago and she knows it.

And that's why she is so desperate to be heard. Her personality just reeks of fake energy and promises. An ally should be transparent, joyful, and fully supportive of all aspects of the community.

Whether you're feminine or masculine or somewhere in between, it shouldn't matter and you shouldn't be scorched for it.

In a video later posted on her Twitter, she apologized for her remarks after realizing how offensive they were. She stated "I'll start by saying I apologize, I did not mean to offend my LGBTQ community on yesterday's show..." and further added, "I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, I'm just having a conversation."

I hope that all see right through and protest by not watching her show or anything to do with it. Deny her any revenue it might have otherwise generated. Luckily for me I could never watch her show and I never will.
