Sara Jean Lane

I'm a senior at Judson College majoring in piano performance, mathematics, and English. I'm a first soprano and a tag-along-newbie equestrian. In my dreams, I can dance; in reality, I can dream. I have mild obsessions with Gaelic music and crocheting, and I have severe obsessions with ASL, damp grass, good pens, and pretty notebooks. I breathe words. You can, too--it's called whispering. I think poetry is severely underappreciated in today's world, and I'm making it my mission to read Philip Larkin aloud to everyone who calls me a friend. I think the South is in a unique cultural and religious position and that communities there, should they choose to work towards understanding, have more power to push back against hate than we realize. I also think everyone should learn cursive and hand-write letters.
