Since the trade deadline on July 31, the Toronto Blue Jays have arguably been baseballs best team. with the deadline approaching, Toronto was looking to get someone that could help them climb atop the AL East. Sure enough the Blue Jays landed one of baseballs best all round players in the game. The Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays agreed on a blockbuster deal, sending shortstop Jose Reyes to Colorado, and Troy Tulowitzski to the Blue Jays. The deal also included some minor league players.
It's safe to say the Blue Jays have found their perfect man. Since Tulowitzki's debut on July 29, the Blue Jays have won 14 out of their last 15 games. He also homered in his debut. Most importantly, the Toronto Blue Jays are now in first place in the AL East overtaking the Yankees.
Since the trade, many were wondering what the Rockies were thinking when they decided to give up their best player for a shortstop who is most likely past his prime. With this trade the Rockies are looking to completely turn their franchise around with a young group of guys. Very similar to what the Chicago Cubs have done in the past by getting rid of some of their big name players so they can develop their prospects later on.
Looking at it now, it's safe to say that plan has helped the cubs with the fourth best record in baseball. For the Colorado Rockies, they are hoping this trade was the stepping stone to a new era. As for the Blue Jays, well they are just straight on fire since acquiring Tulowitzki.
