7 Shameless Thoughts We Have While Watching ‘Shameless’

We always forget about Liam, but I sincerely hope he turns out OK.

You can’t help but love the Gallaghers.

Six children growing up with an alcoholic father on the south side of Chicago, they’re not quite your traditional family, but they’ve always got each other’s backs.

After watching the first five minutes of straight weirdness, sex, drugs and alcohol, it’s obvious you’re in for a treat. Despite the string of shit-luck the Gallaghers face, they always live life completely shameless and sometimes we wish we could be a little more like them.

Here are seven shameless thoughts we all have while watching "Shameless."

1. What even is Lip and where can I get one?

Despite everything we know about smoking cigarettes, if Lip offered us one, we’d probably be down.

He’s mastered the whole bad boy act to a T – running from cops, sneaking around with his professor, the pretty standard Jess Mariano qualities that make a bad boy attractive. But there’s something else there too. Sweet, sensitive and also smart, we can’t stand the self-sabotaging and pray that someone finally says, “Fuck it, this kid deserves a chance”.

2. OK, sorry but Debbie is annoying

We’ve tried really hard to give her the benefit of the doubt, but there’s just no good explanation for why Debbie is the WOAT.

It’s like watching your middle-school self in the absolute worst moment of your awkward phase over and over again. Cringe. From bad decisions to worse decisions her storyline just continues to go downhill.

3. When did Carl get hot?

It makes no sense, but let’s just embrace it. His one-liners and stupid antics had us laughing from season one and he can weirdly pull off the cornrows.

4. I can't get over that Sheila is the mom from 'Ice Princess'

Yes, Joan Cusack, ladies and gents — the one who wouldn’t let her daughter wear skimpy ice skating outfits and wouldn't let anyone in her house with their shoes on.

No matter how bizarre it gets, we all live for a good Sheila scene and secretly want her to make us breakfast.

5. I can't decide if I love or hate Frank

The man who can’t be killed. He just keeps coming back and every time we have just a little faith that maybe this time will be different.

Frank scenes can frankly be excruciating to watch and we’d likely all chip in for him to take a shower, or get a haircut or sometimes go die.

Though we can respect his dedication to getting his hands on alcohol, we’ll probably rip out his liver if he doesn’t destroy it first.

6. Fiona makes me rethink my entire life

While she doesn’t always have the best judgment, especially when it comes to guys (Steve or Jimmy?), she’s doing a lot more than I am right now sitting on my couch watching this show.

Fiona is the backbone of the Gallagher family and somehow always manages to hold things together even when it’s messy.

7. Pray for Liam

We always forget about Liam, but I sincerely hope he turns out OK.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
