Why Psalm:42 Will Free You From Needing Their Validation
I've searched the world to find my heart is yours.
No one is exempt from insecurities or seeking intimacy. We all desire intimacy and, depending on our source, will go to great extents to get this fulfilled. We all desire to have this intimate connection and if we're not going to to the right source we will continue to fight a losing battle to fulfill this desire with inefficient sources.
Serious Question. Have you ever experienced disapproval? Been around someone who just withholds agreeing with you or they treat you as if you're not enough? A group of people that don't FULLY accept you? Maybe as long as you don't disagree with them or the way they think the world should be then y'all are cool but when you think differently or have a different standard it becomes an issue..? Have you ever wanted validation from someone else? or you just wanted 'their yes' and approval?
I write purely for encouragement and when God gave me Psalm 42 I knew I had to write this to encourage you.
Psalm 42: "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, My God" (click here for the song by Tori Kelly)
Since then I can't let go of that divine intimate connection with Him. The song by Tori Kelly completely articulates, musically, what our soul yearns for so much that we'll go to people, events, clubs, jobs, organizations and more to connect with our creator. I stood on the outside of this spiritually for a long time which is where I believe a lot of people live but Psalm 42 is what your soul is always yearning for.
We desire to be connected with God, our creator. People, events, clubs, jobs, success, love, sex, and intimacy are all good things but we pervert this by seeking them for satisfying our souls. No one can fulfill that but God. Your parents could never. Your best friends could never. Your God-given husband or wife could never. Your siblings could never. Your fans could never. Your prestige, intelligence, degrees, education, or status could never fulfill the thing your soul is asking for.
The entire chapter of Psalm 42 freed me to understand that that presence of wanting "more" or something that I can't explain is really me wanting to be with God. The amazing is that He always wants to be with you.
He wants to be at the center of everything in your life. He loves you so much that he'd sacrifice His only son (Jesus, perfection wrapped in flesh) in hopes that you'd choose for you and Him to be together. There's no greater love than someone who would sacrifice their son for your sins on the potential of you choosing Him.
That's why you feel so thirsty for something and you find yourself in situations that you have to go back to over and over for fulfillment. Because let's be honest with ourselves that they're not enough. My mother's love and hugs aren't enough. My father's love or 'well done' isn't enough. My boyfriend's intimacy and affection isn't enough. They're not enough because God is the only living water to quench that thirst that you live with.
The world's best thing isn't enough. God is the only thing. There's no perfect way to seek Him. You can start by telling Him you're not sure where you're at or what you're doing but you think you need Him.
