Poetry On Odyssey: Memories
It hard to keep track of thoughts when they-
This is a poem that I wrote for my creative writing class in my first semester of college. We were told to write a free verse poem and I wasn't sure what to write. So I ended up deciding to write about my memories. I didn't write about any specific memory, but more about how forgetful I am and how I'm always forgetting things that are important or could help me in the long run. I have so many things that frustrate me because I can't remember something about them that I used to know. Those feelings went into this poem.
Memories
It hard to keep track of thoughts when they
Cut off. Chunk
By chunk. Where does one
Start and another
End. A storm swirls and
Calms. Thoughts disappear and
I'm left with nothing. It hurts
That I can't remember
The simplest things. Nothing
Seems to be able to stick in
My memories. Nothing is
Important enough to
Stay there for too long.
Soon the world will fade
Away and I will even forget
Myself.
