Poetry On Odyssey: I Will Always Remember You
Some things you can never forget.
I remember how the sun reflected off the ocean.
I remember how the blue matched your eyes.
I remember the way your smile created butterflies in my stomach.
I remember the feeling of falling and not asking why.
I remember the cracks that broke the surface.
I remember the black that shined through.
I remember the pain that tore my insides.
I remember trying to hide from you.
I remember the fear that bubbled beneath my skin.
I remember the gleam of the knife in your hand.
I remember the scream that clawed its way from my throat.
I remember my blood dripping through my fingers.
I remember the white lights from the hospital.
I remember the beep of the machines.
I remember the tears falling from my eyes.
I remember the recovery that felt like a lifetime.
I remember looking over my shoulder everywhere I went.
I remember the fear that was my shadow for months on end.
I remember turning on the news and hearing of your demise.
I remember the relief that washed over me like a waterfall as I began to cry.
