'You're So Easy To Talk To' Is One Of The Most Underrated Compliments
It's more than just making conversation.
Being told that you're easy to talk to is one of the most underrated compliments that one can receive. This doesn't always mean that you're just a social person and fun to talk to, but that you truly have an ability to listen to and understand people. The ability to be a good listener doesn't come easily and for someone to realize this quality in a person is very significant. Also, the ability to understand one's body language clearly aids in the visualization of human interaction. The realization of this quality in myself is a compelling motive for my switching my major from Biology to Psychology. In addition to the great interest I have in learning about the subject, the profound appreciation I have for possessing this trait innately advanced my decision.
I've always had an appreciation for Psychology but studying abroad in London, England for the past semester is definitely what caused my interest to peak. I have learned so much about myself as a person and hence progressed my deep value of said newfound intuitions. Interacting with both a diverse group of people and a new culture lead to fascinating observations about people, relationships, and society as a whole. Specifically, for a very reserved person to choose to allow you access to some of their deepest thoughts is a clear indication of respect. Enabling someone to see you at your most vulnerable position demonstrates an immense amount of trust which must be cautiously preserved. These two attributes, respect and trust, indicate a further appreciation for a person as they are attached to a person who is thought to be kind, intelligent, and of great integrity. I have interacted with some upstanding psychologists throughout my life and I'd be privileged to follow in their footsteps.
