The Elimination Diet: My Experience
Three weeks ago I started an elimination diet with the help of a nutritionist
I have had intestinal and stomach issues for about 2 years now. I have been to doctor after doctor trying to figure out why I am having these issues. Finally, I decided to go to a nutritionist to see if possibly it is something I'm eating. I got a blood test done which shows certain food sensitivities that I could have. Once I got the results back I started the diet. I started off with foods that are the least reactive and safest for me to eat and add other foods as the weeks go on.
Week one was definitely the hardest one for me, I woke up the first day feeling okay only being able to eat strawberries, blueberries and hamburgers and some turkey. I felt fine, nothing really affected me. By day two though, I had awful flu symptoms along with missing a week of school because of it. That first week was really hard mentally as well. It is common to go through withdrawal symptoms because of the lack of sugars and lower food intake you have. Having that in mind I knew what was coming, but I never expected it to be as bad as it was. Though it was hard, I was able to make it through the first week.
The next week was much much easier. I felt more energetic, happy, and my skin was glowing. Not going to lie, I have never looked better. This showed me that the pain I had endured the week before was all worth it. I got to eat more foods I liked, I got to eat almonds and some other foods that I could not eat the week prior.
Overall, I have loved this diet and I have never felt better, It has been absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend anybody do. This diet is just really nice for you to know what things may make you feel bad or sick in some way so you can avoid the problem food. It is really helpful no matter what body type or lifestyle you have. This third week so far has been amazing so far and I am so excited to see what is in store for me next with this diet.
