Personally, I had never thought about getting a tattoo. Then again, I never thought I would study abroad either. The commitment for both seemed undo-able, especially for someone who can't even commit to a nail polish color that will only last for two weeks. Yet here we are. More committed than ever. If you couldn't already tell from the cover photo, this is not my story. (You can breathe now dad.) But thanks to this spontaneous decision, I have now been inspired to think about what kind of mark I want to have and leave.
"Walking along the shores of Bondi, I was thinking about how amazing our study abroad trip had been so far. I never wanted to forget about it. And wouldn't you know, there just so happened to be a tattoo parlor called "Bondi Ink Tattoo" right next to the beach. This was my chance, and I wasn't going to let it past. Luckily, I wasn't going in there blind because I had gotten a tattoo before. In fact, I love tattoos for the permanency of them. With tattoos, you have the ability to express yourself and change the body you were born into. The ink of choice for the day was the boomerang due to it being a traditional Australian symbol. The history and culture of the boomerang has had a lasting impact on the Australian society, and now will have a lasting impact on me as well. As I was sitting there in the ink chair, I looked out at the beach, and I couldn't think of a better way to remember this trip. After all, the whole four days we had been here were incredible, and there was no telling what the rest of the trip held."
