It can be challenging to understand how and where to get your start when venturing out into the business world.
It can be challenging to understand how and where to get your start when venturing out into the business world.
Understanding where to begin and how to create a successful product and launch it carries its weight and individual challenges.
Adding to that, challenging economic slumps do not help. Still, Adrienne Alitowski documents her encouraging story through product launch and invention through her memoir, Clipped: A Mom Invents A Way To Hold Her Life Together Just As The World Falls Apart.
The memoir tells the tale of Alitowski’s experience during The Great Recession. As a new mother, Alitowski saw the need for a simple product in the baby market; something to hold blankets on a toddler or baby’s stroller.
That is when she had the idea to invent and launch blankyclip. blankyclip is the only plush toy that doubles as a loose tension clip, specifically designed to hold blankets onto strollers, bouncy seats, swings, etc., and blankyclip is wholly padded for the safety of infants or toddlers.
Throughout the memoir, Alitowski details the different challenges she faced while launching blankyclip: morning sickness before investor meetings and understanding the product invention process in a new country.
Of all the challenges faced, Alitowski overcame each of them, with one factor in mind: her confidence in herself and her product despite the moments where she may have felt as though all hope was lost during moments of rejection.
“I have learned that the buyer is a person both revered and feared in a store, and when the buyer is the owner, I can only imagine the power that combo yields. Buyers make me revert to my elementary schoolgirl self, who feels insecure and powerless. But I get Myriam’s email info nonetheless because confident or not, I must march on,” says Alitowski in her book.
Alitowski’s drive and hunger for success made her product launch a success, despite facing a few bumps along the way. Confidence and resilience go hand in hand in all aspects of life, which is reflected throughout Clipped.
Clipped is highly reviewed and available in stores and online on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
“Generations have grown up believing in the American Dream—that optimism and
hard work will eventually pay off. That’s how author Adrienne Alitowski approached
the invention and marketing of her product blankyclip—a cute, useful toy to keep
stroller blankets in place. What began as a bright idea turned nightmarish in the face of
corporate realities and a global recession. With winning humor and refreshing honesty,
Alitowski spins a universal cautionary tale about what is and isn’t in our control. And ultimately, what matters.”
