Social Media Helps Me Stay In Touch With My Best Friends That Are Hundreds Of Miles Away
I miss my best friends so much — this article finna be cheesy.
I've always had friends that live in different countries where I talk to them once a month or so and just keep in touch with them lightweight. When my senior year of high school came around, I didn't know how I would survive without talking to my best friends, Sofi and Emily, and seeing them every single day of my life. They are my whole heart and whenever it got closer to them leaving, I would literally panic and would just pretend the day would never come.
I am now a sophomore in college and Emily lives in South Carolina while Sofi is all the way in Venezuela. Yes, Venezuela. You would think that we'd drift away and that our friendship would fall apart, but that's NOT the case. Thanks to social media we technically talk to each other every day as if nothing has changed. We are all still just as funny and get along as if parting away was yesterday. We have a Snapchat group chat where we update each other on our lives and show each other what's going on in the life of Neha, Emily, or Sofi.
We haven't felt as though we are ever lacking in communication and aren't the type to over communicate either. Thanks to Memories on Snapchat, we are always reminded of how strong our bond is and how ugly we were in high school (they both have had their glow ups and I'm still waiting for mine, smh). We have group chats on Instagram and Twitter and send each other the craziest of things that we can't really ever send to anyone else because our friendship is just so unique (at least that's what it's like for me) oh and our humor is so stupid hahaha.
We've introduced each other to our friends in college and they are aware of the three of us which I think is so cute. Long distance relationships are so doable thanks to the social media that we have, it's just so easy to maintain that connection whether it be one person or a group of besties. We were told in high school that the friendships that we had then would not continue when we'd get to college. Well quite frankly, that's some utter bulls***.
Friendships can last if you put in the effort, and social media is available to help you out in doing just that.
