PMS — AKA period cramps — are an issue that we have all faced... here are 10 things you should try during PMS. I hope this helps and have a wonderful day!
1. Eat some ice cream.
Nothing like eating some mothaf***in' ice cream.
It is really just a psychological subject. According to some studies, diary can make you feel more bloated. But everyone loves ice cream, eating ice cream makes people happy. The status of being happy is when you produce endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin; these are the happy hormones. And any other sweets just like ice cream can help you produce those happy hormones since PMS is sometimes a psychological state as well. There's no better feeling than enjoying a cup of Cold Stone with all your favorite mix-ins, some Baked Bear, or even just plain ice cream from your favorite local grocery store.
2. Do some yoga.
I am currently taking a yoga class as my elective at down here at ASU in the Tempe campus, and I absolutely love it. I learned that the founder of Pilates, Joseph Pilates invented the physical fitness of pilates as a healing exercise. He was all about a balanced body, mind, and spirit and you should too! You can literally browse on youtube for a yoga or pilates video, which are usually no longer than 20 minutes. Play on some relaxing beats and put your body, mind, and spirit into healing these PMS.
3. Do some online shopping.
I would recommend going out to the mall and doing some physical shopping... but nah! It's all about being in bed and doing some online shopping. @UniDays always has great online coupons for college students on their App. Forever 21 always has all sorts of deals, and if you sign up for their emails you are most likely to be aware of what they got going on throughout the week. Even if you actually begin the browsing for the perfect outfit and end up not actually purchasing it, it is a great distraction from PMS as you focus on something else.
4. Go hiking or for a run.
I truly wish I could relate to this one, but I absolutely hate running in general. I was trying to join the track and field team back in high school and I would do the conditioning for around two-three weeks then quit... (irrelevant story). I remember I was on my period once and the track coach told me that running would actually make my cramps go away. I was on some hardcore PMS before practice but after 10-15 minutes my cramps actually went away. There are also studies that running while on your period can affect your cycle. Both running and hiking are considered physical exercise and it is truly recommended for you to get some while on PMS.
5. Order some Insomnia Cookies or Dirty Dough.
Yes, I know. Cookies make you bloated, blah blah blah. Cookies just like ice cream make people happy, by being happy you produce the happy hormones. You need these happy hormones in order to beat these PMS. Perks of living in Tempe include easy access to Insomnia and Dirty Dough, and if you haven't tried any of these literally stop what you are doing and go get yourself some cookies.
Also, grab yourself a cup of warm milk, wrap yourself in your blankets like a burrito and enjoy our favorite snack. COOKIES.
6. Binge watch a Netflix Show.
If you haven't already, make sure to check out another of my articles where I recommend the best movies/shows to binge watch on Netflix right now. Like I mentioned before; wrap yourself in your blankets like a burrito and watch on!
7. Eat some Hot Cheetos, Takis, or Turbos.
Like I said, I know they can make you bloated... but personally whenever I'm on PMS and I eat spicy chips it makes my cramps go away. I'm sure we've all tried Hot Cheetos but if you haven't tried Takis Fuego or Turbos; STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND GO GET SOME RIGHT NOW. These are also my go-to snack whenever I am emotional.
8. Listen to healing music on Youtube for period cramps.
This is legit. I was in so much pain wrapped in my blankets like a burrito a while ago, and I searched "Healing music to ease period cramps" on YouTube and the beats were pretty relaxing. It might be a mental thing, but they went away for a while. Music therapy it's the best.
9. Take a nap.
As humans, we were designed to just sleep it off. In order to recharge our batteries to conquer the next day, we just sleep it off. Therefore I truly encourage you to just sleep it off. And not just a power nap, a 40-minute nap works best. Wrap yourself in your blankets like a burrito de carne asada with Guac and sleep it off!
10. Go get some CUDDLES.
If you are lucky enough to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, please go get some cuddles. Where are all my single ladies at? And if not, cuddle with your pet or even a stuffed animal or a pillow. It has been scientifically proven that cuddles which produce oxytocin, easing chronic pain.
I hope you enjoyed this article and keep these in mind next time you are facing some PMS while on your period.

11 Dorm Room Snacks You Can't Afford NOT To Put On Your College Grocery List
Snacks are what will get you through the good and bad days in college.
Living in a dorm is one of the most challenging parts of college. Between dealing with roommates everyday, struggling to keep everything clean, and no longer having your mom or dad around to cook you dinner, dorm room life can bring you down.
What's one thing that can make all these frustrations go away? Snacks!
Everyone loves snack food but it can be hard to decide which snacks are worth the money when you're shopping at Walmart. These are the best snacks to keep in your dorm room that will get you through all your tough college days, so be sure to add these to your grocery list.
1. Oreos
GiphyWho doesn't love a delicious Oreo? Especially the Halloween themed ones. Don't forget to pick up some milk with this purchase, because you'll be craving to dunk your Oreos into something.
2. Popcorn
GiphyPopcorn is one of the best foods to absentmindedly shove into your mouth while watching your favorite movie with your friends.
3. Ice cream
GiphyI would highly suggest always keeping a pint of ice cream in your freezer. There's nothing like crying into Ben & Jerry's after a long day.
4. Peanut butter
GiphyMy sincerest apologies go out to anyone who is allergic to peanuts because you are truly missing out on one of life's yummiest delicacies. Peanut butter is the ideal snack because it can be used in plenty of ways. You can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, dunk apples into your peanut butter, or -- my favorite way -- just eat it by the spoonful.
5. Microwave macaroni and cheese
GiphyMicrowave mac and cheese is easy to make and deliciously unhealthy. But you have to ask yourself: Kraft or Velveeta?
6. Pringles
GiphyThese light and fluffy chips are an ideal snack. Be careful though, because it can be pretty easy to eat an entire can in one sitting.
7. Pop-Tarts
GiphyEat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a midnight snack. You can never go wrong with a Pop-Tart.
8. Microwave oatmeal
GiphyAny food that can be made in the microwave in two minutes or less is perfect for dorm life. Oatmeal may seem like a boring breakfast food, but you can always spice it up by adding some fresh fruit.
9. Pizza rolls
GiphyYou may not be able to make an entire pizza in a dorm room microwave, but you can definitely make some pizza rolls.
10. Bananas
GiphyIf you're yearning for a healthier snack, look no farther than a banana. They're the perfect fruit on-the-go, taste good with peanut butter, and can easily be stored in a dorm room.
11. Candy
GiphyIf you're like me, then you have a sweet tooth. My suggestion is to hide candy throughout your entire room. Whether it's chocolate or lollipops doesn't matter. All I know is that everyone needs some sugar in their life.
