Poetry On Odyssey: The Run (Of Her Dreams)

A poem of personal reflection of the run to my dreams I took once, and the run I'll take forever. May it inspire a run of your own.

Hi Readers,

This poem is a reflection of some personal growths I've encountered within myself. It is never easy to discuss, but I feel like I've been on The Run to my dreams my entire life. There's never a wrong time to give yourself that chance. Run far and wide to what you dream of most!

There was a girl who ran,

As fast as she could run

She had done so very often,

If only for fun, but her feet kept her running

Away from problems that seemed too much

Away from the dreams she fought hard to clutch

She kept running,

She ran from the people who shut her out

She ran from the people who had their doubts

There was never really anything else to say

So she kept running anyway

The girl who ran, also ran from herself

The doubts she built upon the perceptions of others

There was very little hope she had for the dreams she wanted to grow

The dreams she wanted to nourish

The dreams she wanted to be real

Her feet kept her running,

Away from facing the obstacles and her biggest enemy:

Herself

But in the space of time, she grew to hear the voice she neglected the most:

The Dream she cultivated long ago

It called out through a ringing hurdle of fear and self doubt

It diminished the wailing of any hurt or pain

It healed faster than time could ever go,

Healed the heart of the girl who ran

Now, it seemed, the girl who ran was running to her Dream

It was no longer a run that secluded her from the doubt she felt within herself or from others

It was no longer a run that drifted her away from facing her problems and obstacles

But it was The Run of Her Life

It was the speeding adrenaline ride to meet her Dream

Finally and truly

She saw newer faces, lifting her to greater heights

Never remembering the faces that left her behind

The Run was only the first step

She knew she had so much left to do

But the girl who ran once from the hurt, pain, and doubt

Was now the girl on The Run of Her Life,

Elevating into the clouds.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

11 Things We Learned From Brooke Davis

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
