1. Catfish and the Bottlemen

These guys are sort of new to the music scene, but bring a lot to the table. Their alternative sound is awesome and is definitely worth a listen This is the link to their song "Souncheck".

2. Børns

I discovered this band through a friend about two years ago and instantly fell in love with their unique and interesting sound. This is the link to their song "Electric Love".

3. Young the Giant

Although these guys have been around for several years, I don't feel they get as much recognition and attention that they deserve. Here is a link to one of their more popular songs "Cough Syrup".

4. Mutemath

I found a single song from this band about a year ago and gravitated to them after listening to more of their music. They have more of a techno yet alternative sound that is very calming. Here is the link to their song "Light Up". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udPibA85qUg

5. The Front Bottoms

At first when I heard one song by this band I was immediately turned on, but as I continued to listen to them I began to appreciate their music. They have a real different sound than most bands as well as interesting lyrics. This is the link their song "Cough It Out". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n-8iPfI-o4

6. The Strumbellas

I heard this song on the radio and felt their song was really catchy. Their song "Spirits" is just so fun you can't not enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9kXstb9FF4

7. Florence + The Machine

Florence has been around for a few years, but she's continued to burst out with new hits that everyone loves. I've been a fan of her's for years now, and after seeing her live I realized how her music effects her emotionally and spiritually. Here is a link to her song "Ship To Wreck". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9v8jLBrvug

8. Foster The People

Like Florence, Foster The People too have been in the alternative music scene for a few years. This fun band always puts on a great show and continues to wow their fans. Here is a link to their song "Helena Beat". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABzh6hTYpb8

9. Halsey

I've heard a lot of mixed feelings towards Halsey, but personally her music is one of my favorites. I love her sound and the way she presents herself. Here is a like to her song "Colors". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGulAZnnTKA

10. Marian Hill

I discovered Marian at probably the strangest time in place. I was on a French exchange program, living in France, and trying to find some cool music to jam to and this is what I found! Here is a link to her song "Got It". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wjbY0Tyfr4

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
