Christmas

The holidays are a crazy time for everyone, and we all want to make sure we get the most out of the season. We sometimes get caught up in the idea of presents and making sure everything is perfect, and we often forget there are other important aspects to the holidays. This guide will help you stick to your goals while also having a great time!

1. Decorate!

The best way to feel festive is to make it look festive! Decorating can change the entire mood of your home or work environment. You can find great decorations at the Dollar Store, and I promise they will make you feel better.

2. Invest in a holiday scented candle

Everyone needs an apple cinnamon or peppermint candle for this season.

3. Make a holiday playlist

Is it really the holidays if you don't listen to "All I Want for Christmas is You" 25 times a day?

4. Bake! Bake! Bake!

Who can so no to holiday treats? Baking goodies is the best way to stay warm and enjoy the season.

5. Tell the people you love that you appreciate them

It's never a bad time to remind people how you feel about them, and the holidays are especially a great time to be thankful because not everyone gets to spend the holidays with their loved ones.

6. Donate your time

It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but the best use of your time is to spend it with someone who really needs it. This can be something as simple as reconnecting with a lost friend or spending a little extra time with your grandparents.

7. Send out holiday cards

Whether you make your own or get a greeting card pack, this is a nice and simple way to let people know you're thinking about them, and people definitely appreciate it.

8. Invite friends over for a pajama party and holiday movie marathon

Make sure to have lots of snacks ready! If you want to have more fun, consider doing a gift exchange or playing some holiday games.

9. Set goals

This may seem crazy and you may be thinking it's impossible during the holiday season. It is important to remember not to pause your life. Setting goals and planning will also help take care of some of the last minute stress during the holidays.

10. Take some time for yourself

This can be hard during the holidays if you're constantly thinking about who you have to get gifts for, who you have to see, what food you have to make for what get-together, etc. This is the most important time to make sure you're taking care of yourself. It can be as easy as taking some time out of your day to meditate, go to a yoga class, or finding what helps you clear your mind.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
