Nicholas Sandmann, the student from Covington Catholic High School who was smeared by the mainstream media last year, returned to the March For Life this past Friday.
At last year's March For Life, a video of Sandmann went viral which showed him slightly smiling at a Native American man named Nathan Phillips, who was beating a drum in his face.
The mainstream media immediately ate this up.
They ran stories claiming Sandmann was "mocking" Phillips, that he and his classmates were hurling insults and slurs at him.
They attacked Sandmann and his classmates, a group of 16-year-olds, for attending a pro-life event and sporting MAGA hats.
They retweeted stories without verifying facts, interviewed Phillips and took him at his word.
They claimed that the high school boys had been taunting him.
Not quite.
Soon the full video was released, and it was revealed that the boys were actually being jeered at by a group of radical Black Hebrew Israelites. It was also shown in the video that Phillips approached Sandmann, unprovoked, and the beat the drum uncomfortably close to his face. Sandmann's slight smile was simply due to his discomfort with the situation. He didn't even say a word.
Yet, since the story fits a narrative some leftists are trying to promote, they ran it before it was even verified. They smeared the name of a 16-year-old boy, labeled him a racist and bigot on national news outlets. Former CNN reporter Rena Reza Aslan tweeted, "Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid's?" Yet, if conservatives question Greta Thunberg's school attendance record or her comprehension of economics, they are shouted down for "attacking a child."
Yeah, OK.
Despite last year's jarring events, Sandmann returned to 2020's March For Life. In a tweet with photos from the event, Sandmann said that he'd "never miss an opportunity to march for life."
The mainstream media and the left couldn't bully him into silence.
Oh, and CNN also just settled a $275 million dollar lawsuit with him (for an undisclosed amount) after he sued for defamation.
Perhaps now they'll learn not to smear children for supporting our President.
... But I doubt it.
