"Get out right now, it's the end of you and me. It's too late and I can't wait for you to be gone, cause I know. About her and I wonder, how I bought all the lies. You said that you would treat me right but you were just a waste of time."
YES, that is JoJo's hit song, Leave (Get Out). It is crazy to think that JoJo was only 13 years old when she released this single that quickly became platinum. When I was 13 I wasn't worried about a boy cheating on me, I was worried about missing an episode of Lizzie McGuire. Either way, I'm sure you've heard that smash hit and don't even deny that you haven't sung it out loud in your car or room.
JoJo had many hit songs back in the day, but after years of fighting and suing her record company (they wouldn't let her release music and wouldn't let her out of contract) she has released new music, and is back and better than ever! I've been a fan of JoJo for awhile and she's also a Massachusetts native! Her music was pretty authentic and she always kept it real with the messages she wanted to send to her fans. You can tell that making music is something she is really passionate about.
Also, remember when she was in the movie Aquamarine with Emma Roberts?! Dang, I feel old.
I, also, respect the fact that when she was on a hiatus, she took time to get a college degree! Let's take a look at some of her great songs, both old and new are included! Just in case you need a refresher on how great her voice is...
1. Leave (Get Out)
2. Baby It's You
3. Not That Kinda Girl
4. Too Little Too Late
5. Disaster
6. Andre (JoJo released these songs on mix tapes and internet sources, due to her record label issues)
After a long wait JoJo released an EP in 2015 called Tringle. It includes the songs:
7. When Love Hurts (major dance feels!)
8. Save My Soul (Which is about the struggles she had with her father, who left her as a child and battled drug addiction. The song also touches upon the struggles everyone deals with on a daily basis)
I had the opportunity to see her in concert this summer (Later found out her uncle and aunt were sitting right in front of me, WHAT?!) and she's just as good live as she is in her videos! Her voice is just amazing! At the concert she sang her new single F*** Apologies ft Wiz Khalifa, which I've now had on repeat for 2 days straight. It's empowering for anyone who feels that they always need to take the blame for situations. It's one of those songs you blast in your car and sing at the top of your lungs. Check it out below.
I'm glad that she can finally release music and show us how much she's grown as an artist. After all these years of waiting and having the ability to make music again, JoJo should know it's never too little too late.
