Kardashian Culture Is Hurting Mental And Physical Health

Plastic surgery outcomes will not be attainable by following their tricks. They paid for that, too.

Kardashian Culture Is Hurting Mental And Physical Health

I love watching Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kris and all the rest of the Kardashian Klan, but, sometimes, I have a real problem with the way they do things. Their power and influence is monumental and is sometimes used for useful things. However, that typically isn't the case--usually, their influence is used for spreading bullshit on how others should aspire to the Kardashians' idealized image of beauty, health, and popularity.

While health is important, so is self-love.

Their images spread this ideal body type (in any one of the sisters you choose), but what they do isn't going to work for everyone.

Their detox teas and appetite suppressant tricks are not THE RIGHT ANSWER for EVERYONE. Wearing organ crushing waist trainers and sucking on lollipops praying your hanger won't overtake you will not make you skinny and perfect; it will make you INSANE.

I love their effort. Some things work for people, some don't. Maybe their tricks will work for you. But, my biggest problem is that they speak every word as if it some SCIENTIFIC TRUTH. It isn't.

Half of the time, you will find some article peaking through the surface easily showing the harms of following these celebrities dieting trends.

You can use them as your motivation. Use the Kardashians as your inspiration. But please, for the love of God, do not take them as a FACT. Not eating dairy won't necessarily make you drop 15 pounds in three days (this is not a claim they made, but some seem to be this drastic at times). The Kardashian influence will only eventually cause not only physical harm but mental harm as well to many young women, and really anyone who buys into their entirety.

We've seen Kylie and Kendall grow up. They had a peculiar switch. We've been exposed to the way the lifestyle of the rich and famous can get you anything you want, including the perfect body. So, buying into their business is really just some B.S. While maybe they "work hard," they don't have to for every little thing in their lives.

They don't have all the worries of the normal person.

They are famous because of Kim's promiscuity. Don't rely on some publicized star to fix all your problem. She doesn't have the solutions, because she doesn't share your same problems.

I promise you that you can eat that burger. I promise you that you can skip a workout. Their only job is to be desirable (so that they stay in the national spotlight and sell outrageously-overpriced products) and that is not your job.

Would I love to look like a Kardashian? Somedays. Think about how hard it is to look that good constantly!? No, thanks. I will take my heaping bowl of spaghetti with tons of parmesan in my XL t-shirt and raggedy old Soffe shorts.

Don't follow the Kardashian Lifestyle, follow your own.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
