For some of us finding a song that touches our soul is hard to come by, but when we do hear one, we cannot break from listening to it on repeat. When a song touches the soul it brings out emotions that have been hidden from the world. Even if these emotions are only revealed in the comforts of our dorms and apartments, we know that this song has given us a new purpose.

I was shocked when I first listened to Broken Arrows because for some odd reason I hadn't even known that Avicii came out with a new album back in September. As I was listening to the song for the first time I slowly realized that this was one of those songs. The song makes me forget about the world for four minutes. The song that gives me hope for my future. The song that strikes my soul.

Broken Arrows is about the love that we all yearn for, while we all live in a world full of chaos and confusion. The beginning of the song reminded me that I have told myself that I am not worthy of love, and I have believed myself.

"You stripped your love down to the wire

Fire shy and cold alone outside

You stripped it right down to the wire"

But the song also tells me that there is someone who sees beyond the lie.

"But I see behind those tired eyes"

The songs goes on to tell me that this person can see the beauty and potential in me, even if I cannot, and becomes the one to help me see my it.

Chorus:

And sometimes you loose and sometimes you're shooting

Broken arrows in the dark

The chorus pronounces the hope that someone has for us. They know we can do it. They know that we can climb the mountain that is in front of us. As the song continues we learn that this person has been in the darkness before as well and knows that we are lost, but also knows that they can help. They tell us to be strong, take courage, and try.

"We have to tear down the walls that live in your heart

To find someone you call home"

But now we have to let that person help us. For me, this was the hard part. I don't want help, I want to know that I can do it on my own. But then I think, 'What if this makes the journey more interesting?' What if we grow together.

This song has changed my perspective on many things in a short period of time. My travel plans and companions have changed, but not my destination. I realized that people have to help me, or else I would never feel companionship and love. We need to find that person - whether friend, family, partner, or mentor - that helps us grow to be the person we dream to be, and the person that we can experience life with.
