8 Reasons Why Josh From "Clueless" Is Still Bae

"Clueless" is the "Mean Girls" of the 90s. One of the most quotable, most funny, and most adorable movies in existence, I could never get sick of watching it. While there are many great characters, Josh Lucas is probably my favorite, although Cher is a very close second. Josh, played by Paul Rudd, is Cher's adorkable stepbrother who is trying to get a degree in environmental law and is seeking tutelage from Mel, Cher's father and Josh's stepfather, who is already a hotshot lawyer. More guys like Josh should exist in the world because he is honestly just a kind-hearted person. Even though this movie is almost 21 years old this coming July (crazy, right?!), here are eight reasons why Josh Lucas will always be bae.

1. He is an activist.

Josh is up to date on world affairs and is a staunch environmentalist. A man who is worldy and cares about the environment is a man we all need in our lives.

2. He is a reader.

Josh reads. And he's not just sitting there with whatever new book is currently on all the bestseller lists. He reads Nietzsche, a German philosopher who ruminated over morality and the human condition. Josh is a deep thinking individual.

3. He's funny and doesn't take Cher's crap.

While I love Cher, she can be a bit much sometimes and needs a reality check thrown at her. Josh is never afraid to be the one to do so. You need a guy to call you out when you're being ridiculous.

4. His relationship with Mel.

Mel, his stepfather, and Cher's biological father, is the closest male figure in his life and his loyalty to his stepdad is too cute. Men who are close with their parents gives them a nice vulnerability.

5. He's sweet.

Josh dances with Tai at the club after Cher ditches her and makes her feel better. That is a genuinely good guy right there.

6. He's a great friend.

After Cher gets mugged she immediately calls Josh, who, despite being on a date, instantly drives to come pick her up.

7. His love for Cher makes them one of the most adorable movie couples.

The stair scene is obviously iconic when Josh finally tells Cher how he feels about her. But my personal favorite moment is when Josh sees Cher in the infamous Calvin Klein white dress.And all he wants is for Cher to be the best she can be, and that is one of the best traits a partner can possess.

8. Paul Rudd.

Paul Rudd is just cute, okay.
