8 Reasons Everyone Needs A Dog In Their Life

In a world that seems like so many things are constantly going wrong, there remains one positive constant: dogs. The love of a dog makes life so much better; they're like a best friend, except more cuddly. I cannot comprehend when people tell me they don't LOVE dogs. It just doesn't make any sense. Dogs are good in so many ways -- here are eight reasons why everyone should have a dog in their life:

1. They're loyal

Dogs are way better than boys -- they'll protect you, love you and never leave you. Dogs love you with all their hearts. Who wouldn't want that in their life?

2. They're the best cuddlers

Lapdog or not, dogs are the best at cuddling. They're patient, loving and fluffy -- all the perfect factors.

3. They're diverse

There are big dogs, small dogs, fit dogs, lazy dogs, fluffy dogs and skinny dogs. Any combo you can imagine is out there in one breed or another -- or, better yet, any combo can be found in a shelter, waiting for a forever home. Anyone can find a companion perfect for their lifestyle.

4. They keep you fit

Dogs are a great motivator to get you up off the couch. When they're looking up at you with those sweet puppy-dog eyes asking to go for a walk, no one with a heart could help but to oblige.

5. They're smart

Dogs can learn up to 250 words and do simple mathematical calculations. They're smarter than we give them credit for, and their eagerness to learn makes it even simpler to teach them.

6. They help you meet new people

When I finally get a dog of my own, I plan on becoming a regular at the local dog park. The best part of being completely obsessed with dogs is that all the best kinds of people are, as well. Asking to pet someone's dog is one of the most socially acceptable ways to approach strangers in public. The next time you're out and about with Fido, it just might be your new best friend or the love of your life who stops you in your tracks.

7. They're entertaining

I could watch my dog bark at himself in the mirror for hours. Dogs get into so many funny situations, and will never fail to make you laugh, whether it's by chasing their tail, growling in their sleep or some other funny habit.

8. They love you unconditionally

You are their whole world. Dogs only want to make you happy, and they truly love you more than they love themselves. They will never fail to put a smile on your face, and frankly, we could all use a little more positivity in our lives. Dogs are the best animals on this planet, and we don't deserve them. Do yourself a favor and let one adopt you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
