11 Things that Happened To You In An A Cappella Group

I sometimes wish Barden University was real!

11 Things that Happened To You In An A Cappella Group

Here's a little article for anyone who has ever been in an a cappella group! We know that "Pitch Perfect" is a scam and we know that we have what it takes to be on "The Sing-Off!" If you were in an a cappella group, you know these 11 things all too well!

1. You have a love/hate relationship with "Pitch Perfect."

perezhilton.com

Yes, it's like the greatest thing that has happened to a cappella since Pentatonix, but it's also ridiculously unrealistic!

2. If you’re a middle part, you live for singing that one note in the weird jazzy chord.

There is nothing more satisfying than nailing that chord.

3. You try really hard to dance even though you know you suck at it.

You wish that you could do all the cool flips, but you actually just look like you tripped over your own feet.

4. You’ve been accidentally spit on by your vocal percussionist.

And it felt just like this, but you smiled anyway because it was during a performance.

5. You’re pretentious enough to call your beat box a “vocal percussionist.”

Those people deserve respect...and a really snobbish title!

6. You secretly wish that you and your group could just make up perfect arrangements of songs on the spot.

giphy.com

How did they do that in "Pitch Perfect?!" (Hint: they didn't.)

7. Your group went (or tried to go) to a Pentatonix concert.

And it was beautiful. And you may or may not have cried.

8. Your favorite gigs were the ones that gave you free food.

giphy.com

Thank god for crappy pizza and individually wrapped cookies that you can smuggle into your bag!

9. You walk around campus humming your harmony to pop songs.

Even if it's not the melody, this song is so dang catchy!

10. You still listen to college a cappella groups (and you still maintain that yours is the best!).

Sure you cried when you first heard this rendition of "Chandelier" but, yeah, your group is totally better!

11. You couldn’t imagine singing with anyone else!

I don't know what I'd do with three extra hours in the week! I'd miss these goons to much! (And now for a shameless plug of the group I'm in! Check us out!!)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
