Adrienne Kalehuawehe

Hello! My name is Adrienne. I live in the desert oasis that is Arizona where every now and then our sunsets blush their deep, coral pink cheeks and our landscapes are riddled with furious teardrops and winds that make the Paloverdes fall to their knees.

I am a third year undergraduate student at Grand Canyon University pursuing my Bachelor's degree in English with an Emphasis in Professional Writing. I've loved writing for a very long time and have won various awards for my poetry throughout high school; specifically, I was awarded first place for my school district's poetry contest and my high school's Poetry Out Loud contest. Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that encourages youth to speak confidently and teaches them literature from our past, pushing them forward both in and out of the competition.

I will be graduating in the spring of 2019 and post-graduation, I have many plans ahead of me. First of which, after I receive my Bachelor's degree, I strive to become an editor and am currently practicing my hand at it by offering my editing services as a freelance editor! Moreover, I plan to further my education by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, which was what I had originally studied for prior to becoming an English major, and learning more about Intercultural Communication, which I have become increasingly curious about after taking an Intercultural Communications class over the summer.
